If you have kids and children then it is the best option that you set up Parental Controls that will let you control the websites and information that your kids access on the internet. Parental Controls is an important feature to set up because you don’t know what your kids might come across randomly when exploring different things on the internet, therefore, it is advised that you set up Parental Controls for the Internet.
There are two ways by which you can set up Parental Controls for Internet on your Xfinity Router. Both of these are mentioned below. You can follow either one to set up Parental Controls for Internet on your Xfinity Wireless Gateway.
1. Through the Admin Panel
- Connect to your Wireless Network and open a web browser.
- In the address bar, type http://10.0.0.1 or 10.0.0.1.
- A login page will appear. You will be prompted to log in using the login username and password.
- Once you log in, go to Parental Control > Managed Sites.
- Tap on the slider next to Managed Sites to Enable it.
- Now you can use each of the given options to:
- Blocked Sites: You can add the URLs of the websites that you want to be blocked on your Wireless Network. Once added, the website won’t be accessible through your network.
- Blocked Keywords: You can add keyword(s) that you want to be blocked from appearing on certain websites.
- Trusted Computers: You can specify and select the devices on which you like to retain full internet access. Selected devices will bypass all the Parental Control options.
Services Blocking:
Once you have logged in into the Admin Panel, go to Parental Control > Managed Services.
- Click on the slider next to Managed Services to Enable it.
- Now you can specify the following:
- Blocked Services: You can add the services and ports that you want to be blocked on your Wireless Network using the Parental Controls.
- Trusted Computers: You can specify and select the devices on which you like to retain full internet access. Selected devices will bypass all the Parental Control options.
2. Through the Xfinity xFi app or Web Portal
Website Blocking:
- Download and install the Xfinity xFi app on your Android/iOS Device or head over to www.xfinity.com/myxFi.
- Sign in using your Xfinity ID and password.
- Once logged in, go to Parental Control > Managed Sites.
- Tap on the slider next to Managed Sites to Enable it.
- Now you can use each of the given options to:
- Blocked Sites: You can add the URLs of the websites that you want to be blocked on your Wireless Network. Once added, the website won’t be accessible through your network.
